Sudoku Help - Print Options

When you print out a puzzle you can select what will be printed on the paper. You may not want the grid to be printed exactly as it is on the screen.

Getting a printout of a puzzle is often useful. Many people like to play Sudoku with pencil and paper, using the Sudoku Dragon facilities only when they get stuck. You can enter a puzzle printed in a newspaper or magazine, print it out with Sudoku Dragon and then solve it by hand on a decent sized piece of paper with plenty of space for notes.

Sudoku puzzles are printed out pretty much as you see it on the screen (or completely differently if preferred). There are various Print Options which allow you to select settings specific for the printed version. It can print all the notes you have added to the squares as well as the game description. It will print over multiple pages if there is insufficient space for the notes on one page.

You can choose to use the same display theme for the grid on the print-out as on the screen, or you can choose a different one by just selecting it from the list (for example black/gray only). If you select a different display theme from the drop down list the different theme option will be automatically selected.

The print options give four choices: the display style for the print-out; the size of the printed grid; whether you want to print the information about possibilities for unallocated squares and whether you want the list of square allocations made so far. These options will be remembered for the next time you print and can be totally different to the options for viewing the grid.

You can choose the size of the grid on the printed page, this is expressed as the percentage of the available print area. In portrait page print mode 100% would give the puzzle grid the full printable paper width. The printed text remains the same size.

When you have selected the options you want press OK and the puzzle will be shown in preview mode. If you have chosen to print allocation history this may generate more than one sheet of paper.
